RESEEN: An Exploration of the Sanpete Landscape

Reseen is a collaborative project that looks at the Sanpete County landscape and challenges the common portrayal of the landscape genre. Curious about what is, what makes, and what can be considered a landscape, the artists interpret places in the landscape through non-traditional mediums and methods. While each work is about a distinct place and incorporates site-specific materials, it does not actually look like the place it represents. Line, color, texture, and form are greatly influenced by the artists’ sensory experience in the place. Here the artists argue that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole and propose that the viewer becomes more aware of and connected to the place by exploring individual elements instead of vistas.
